Vespertillia carapax - Bag
Vespertillia carapax is a fully 3D-printed clutch designed within this family of wearable sculptures, where accessory and artifact meet. Created with its seamlessly integrated hinge mechanism, it functions as both a practical object and a sculptural presence. Its silhouette evokes multiple associations at once: the membranous wings of bats, prehistoric flying creatures, soft armor, or a specimen from an imagined extraterrestrial taxonomy. This openness of interpretation is part of the piece itself—it invites projection, curiosity, and narrative.
Every surface is meticulously hand-finished, hand-sanded, and sealed, giving the piece its polished, luminous sheen. Despite its complex geometry, Vespertillia carapax remains fully functional: it opens and closes smoothly through its integrated printed mechanism, and its interior includes an integrated basket-like inner compartment designed to keep personal items in place. The result is an object that merges sculpture, utility, and speculative biology into a single expressive form.
Each piece is also hand-pigmented, making every Vespertillia carapax one of a kind. Subtle variations in tone, depth, and translucency are part of the individuality of the work.
