Exoflora carapax — Refined Edition

Exoflora carapax is a fully 3D-printed wearable sculpture designed to be used as a bag. Its complex body, including its seamlessly integrated hinges, is developed as a complete system in which sculpture and function become inseparable.

Its silhouette invites different interpretations. Some see a blooming carnivorous plant, while others imagine a protective seed pod, a deep-sea creature, or an unfamiliar futuristic device. This multiplicity of associations is an essential part of the piece, allowing each person to form their own relationship with the object.

The Refined Edition introduces a series of structural, functional, and visual improvements while preserving the original character of Exoflora carapax. Its geometry and details have been carefully revised, resulting in a more resolved construction, improved functionality, and a refined overall finish.

The piece is produced in impact-resistant resin and meticulously finished by hand. Every surface is sanded, refined, hand-pigmented, and sealed with a resistant protective coating. As the pigmentation is created individually rather than reproduced through a fixed industrial process, every Exoflora carapax is one of a kind. Subtle variations in tone, depth, and translucency are part of the individuality of each piece.

Inside, the bag includes a removable side-access pouch, designed to hold personal belongings with greater privacy and protection while keeping them easily accessible.

Although its material and construction have been improved for greater resilience, Exoflora carapax remains a delicate wearable sculpture. It is intended to be used thoughtfully and handled with care and love. Each piece is accompanied by detailed care instructions to help preserve its surface and structure over time.

Original Edition: A limited number of pieces from the original edition may still be available. These retain the earlier construction and finish and are offered separately while existing pieces remain.
