Vespertilia carapax

2024

Vespertilia Carapax is the first clutch bag designed within this family of deeper-scale wearable sculptures. Fully 3D printed—including its hinge—it functions both as a practical accessory and as an alien artifact. Its silhouette evokes multiple associations: the membranous wings of bats, prehistoric flying creatures, and speculative extraterrestrial species. The form appears suspended between avian, reptilian, and otherworldly morphologies, giving it a presence that feels both ancient and futuristic.

Despite its complex geometry, the clutch is entirely functional. It opens and closes smoothly through its integrated printed mechanism, and its interior contains a dedicated basket-like compartment to hold personal items securely. The surface is meticulously hand-finished and sealed, resulting in a polished, luminous piece that merges sculpture, utility, and imaginative biology into a single expressive object.
