Symbionta lucens

2024

Symbionta Lucens is an early luminous sculpture that explores a symbiotic relationship between object and support. Built using glued components rather than modular interlocking, the piece relies on an IKEA lamp base as its structural host. Instead of dominating it, the sculpture attaches lightly, behaving like an organism that has evolved to coexist in mutualistic harmony. Its petal-like lattice envelops the light source, softening and diffusing the glow into an otherworldly radiance. By merging with its host, Symbionta Lucens transforms an ordinary base into part of the sculpture’s anatomy—illustrating a formative moment in the evolution of the Luminaria series, where attachment, dependency, and cooperative form became part of the design language.
